Welcome to the Second Edition of Dam Jam, hosted in the oasis of Tegwaan Country Getaway, cradled in the beautiful mountains of Emgwenya.

The Dam Jam is a mini-music-festival made by friends for friends. This festival is perfect for anyone who has missed live music as much as we have, and would like to see some of South Africa’s most talented artists outdoors in a beautiful natural setting just 2.5 hrs from Joburg and 2 hrs from Pretoria. What is the Dam Jam all about? The arts and the artists. Respect for Nature. Community and togetherness/unity/ubuntu. Supporting local artists and makers. Proggressive events. Fun for everyone!

About Dam Jam

The Dam Jam is a super chill, family friendly, scenic mini-music festival. Hosted in the oasis of Tegwaan Country Getaway, cradled in the beautiful mountains of Emgwenya, the festival will be a celebration of the outdoors and the joy of hearing live music under the sun and stars. There will be two stages one with more chill, acoustic music and the other with more upbeat dancing vibes. The talented South African artists are all very excited to play for real live people!

The festival will be a whole experience in itself with a bonfire drumming circle starting everything off on Friday evening. In addition to the music on Saturday there will be local art exhibition, fishing competition, walkthrough performers, entertainment for the kiddies, delicious vegan-friendly food and local handcrafted products at the market, and plenty more. Closing off the weekend experience with yoga, meditation or just kicking back and enjoying the facilities Tegwaan has to offer such as hiking trails, fishing, swimming, and climbing.

Event Organisers

The Dam Jam is organized by the Funky Fish team, Jaycee Bubb and Wanda Knealey, in collaboration with the team at Tegwaan Country Getaway, Balthazar de Brouwer and Renia Strychaz. Funky Fish has years of experience organizing bespoke music and dance events including Vibration Station in Kaapschehoep, and the first Dam Jam in 2021. Jaycee and Wanda decided to organize the Dam Jam because while they love living in a small country town, they missed live music. They wanted to create a fun space for musicians to be able to share their art with their audience – hosting it in a beautiful outdoor setting was the icing on the cake!

Event Space

Tegwaan Country Getaway’s “day job” is as a farm-stay for weekend and holiday accommodation. Tegwaan has free range chickens, an organic vegetable garden, and more compost piles than we can count! Tegwaan is one of the most exquisite farms that the area has to offer, breathing life and soul into everything that is this event. On the edge of Tegwaan lies the open veld home to sacred wildlife and indigenous plants. The lakes on Tegwaan are all connected, spurting from a single spring at the mouth of the mountain, forging giant trees, attracting spectacular bird life, hosting fish, frogs, monitor lizards, wild cats, monkeys and buck.

Drinks

Yummy drinks will be sold at the event so come ready to partake in some local ales and other beverages.

Coffee

A coffee stall will be available on Saturday from 10:00 – 22:00

Food

Festival goers are welcome to bring their own food and water into the venue, but they are also encouraged to support our local traders who will be selling the best food the area has to offer! Food stalls will be available on Saturday from 10:00 – 21:00.

Waste policy

Tegwaan, alone, is a tightly knit web of life that deserves to be respected during this event. Anyone caught littering or vandalizing will be forced to leave (that includes cigarette butts). Please respect the venue!

Parking

If you will be staying at other accommodation venues in the area there will be parking at the Dam Jam with car attendants to ensure everyone can safely get in and out of the venue. Please note that the road to the Dam Jam is a dirt road and may sometimes be bumpy so small cars should have no problem arriving, but should drive slowly. Parking is at your own risk.

Kids

Dam Jam aims to be a family friendly event where everyone can have a good time so kids under the age of 12 get in free! There will be lots of great activities for them. Although we are accepting of children at our event, we do not advertise this as a “children’s” event due to dams around the property. We will not be held responsible for the safety and or indemnity of any children attending the event. Strict measures will be taken if any person is caught drinking under the age of 18.

Activities

In addition to all the activities that the festival has to offer there are many additional activities in the area. Hiking to two waterfalls from Tegwaan including the 3.5 km Stone Circle loop and the 10 km Rock Fairies Waterfall hike. Additional hiking and family friendly activities at Rocky Drift. Mountain biking at Tranquilitas. Ziplining at Mountain Strings Zipline. Horseback riding with BBK trails. Rock climbing or abseiling outings with Roc n Rope Adventures.

Security

Although the event is hosted in a low crime area, Dam Jam will protect the safety of each person attending the event. A good security team will be surveying the area at all times.

COVID Protocols

Dam Jam will ensure all rules and regulations as per Covid-19 will be adhered to, including curfew, capacity, the current state of the pandemic, etc. This will be released at a much closer date to the event as to provide the most appropriate and current information. Vaccinations are not a requirement for this event although all follow up information will be required on entering premises. The Dam Jam event is a small festival of less than 500 people and held outdoors, therefore making it a relatively low risk event. In the event of a breakout due to or relating to the festival, ticket holders will be notified within 24 hours.

Refund policy

No refunds will be provided, but if you are unable to come, then sell your ticket on to a friend! 🙂

Rules, terms and conditions

– Alcohol is not for sale to persons under the age of 18. Any person found supplying alcohol to U18’s will be removed from the site.
– While every effort is made to create a safe environment for festival goers, your property is the sole responsibility of yourselves. When not at your campsite, lock away all valuables including gas bottles, clothes, cameras.
– Please ensure that you minimise fire risk (and litter) by disposing of your cigarette butts in the metal bins provided. No fireworks or Chinese lanterns are allowed.
– Please do not wander onto neighbouring farms
– All vehicles, bags, tents and possessions of anyone on site may be searched if required

Escape from the city

Dam Jam is hosted in the picturesque Emgwenya district, on Tegwaan Country Getaway farm. There is plenty of natural space to explore, with hiking, mountain biking, climbing, swimming and fishing in the area. While we are looking forward to spending time with you at the festival, we also encourage you to to take some time out and enjoy the surrounding area too.
